Sharyn is a critical thinker, with a desire to unlock human potential and promote well-being through good design. Her practice in placemaking and community development embraces interdisciplinary and participatory approaches to promote well-being through conscious design practices.

Sharyn completed a masters degree in occupational therapy at The University of Cape Town with a special interest in community development and urbanism. After starting a family in 2013, Sharyn broke away from clinical occupational therapy practice to collaborate with Our Future Cities (NPO) on various research and programme design around urban interventions in Cape Town.  Sharyn began consulting privately in 2016 and continues to work closely with Our Future Cities.

In the last few years Sharyn has consulted at Future Cape Town on placemaking projects in collaboration with Blok and The Greater Tygerberg Partnership, as well as guest-writing for the Our Future Cities website on issues of social injustice in urban design that threaten the future of our cities. She has also consulted to The Rawson Property Group on creating shared value through neighbourhood upliftment initiatives and partnerships that address homelessness.
